The Small Business Health Options Program helps Maryland small businesses and nonprofit organizations provide health insurance coverage to their employees. The SHOP is the only place where small businesses may enroll to qualify for a health care tax credit from the IRS to help pay for the cost of coverage for employees. John-Pierre Cardenas, MSPH, Director of Policy and Plan Management with the Maryland Health Benefit Exchange will present information that will help business owners understand: What enrollment options are available for my employees? Is my business eligible for tax credits? Is SHOP right for my business? How do tax credits work? How do I apply?
For self-employed individuals or businesses not eligible for SHOP, a brief presentation will be given to explain the individual health insurance market in Maryland and programs available. This event will provide valuable information to Maryland business owners (or their representatives) with 1-50 full-time equivalent employees.
