Calvert Kettle Corn

Pina colada, salted caramel, chocolate mint and toffee – no, not the latest specialty coffee or cocktail, but one of the more than 100 flavors of hand-made, open-fired kettle corn crafted at Calvert Kettle Corn in Chesapeake Beach.

They started popping in 2003 and remain a family-owned and run business. Offering a variety of sizes from small bags to 1-gallon decorative tins, they provide ample opportunity for taste-testing new flavor combinations. Their slightly sweet, slightly salty kettle-popped corn is fresh, delicious and somewhat addictive. Customers have been known to travel great distances to visit Calvert Kettle Corn for their favorite flavors and they ship popcorn all over the country.

Bags of kettle corn make great giveaways and gifts for weddings, birthdays, showers or as an open house or client appreciation token. You can even choose your own unique flavor combinations or customize colors to match your special event.

Chesapeake Plastics

Chesapeake Plastics is a design, prototyping, tooling and manufacturing company specializing in injection molded plastics, metal processing and 3D printing of production parts, tools, hardware, casings, proof-of-concept prototypes and other products. They provide products and solutions for the Department of Defense, entrepreneurs, recreation and sports industries, consumers, automobile and marine uses, information technology and construction applications.

The team uses mobile, wireless technology for statistical process control at their five machines allowing for better process control while minimizing variation and rejects on the production floor. They can run as few as 64 parts per month, or up to 80,000.

With over three decades of combined experience and the ability to manage the entire manufacturing process in-house, Chesapeake Plastics can scale production as large or as small as a project requires. The entire process, beginning with design, is done in-house at their Lusby, Maryland, location which makes the lead time on projects significantly shorter than working with several contractors. They are also ISO 9000 compliant and follow Lean Manufacturing practices to reduce part cost and increase efficiency. Depending on the complexity of the project, they can complete the entire process – from design to manufacturing – in as few as 30 days.
