Fifteen miles of serene public hiking trails in two locations. Guided canoe trips and hikes offered from spring through fall on beautiful Parkers Creek. Annual seasonal events for families include an Earth Day Celebration in spring, Family Day at Double Oak Farm in summer and the Greens Sale and Beach Hayride in winter.
Directions: South Trail: Route 4 south. Turn left onto Parkers Creek Road. Turn right onto Scientists Cliffs Road. Proceed .8 miles to Land Trust parking lot on left.
North Trail: Route 4 south. Turn left onto Dares Beach Road. Turn right onto Double Oak Road. Proceed one mile. Turn left at Land Trust sign.
Admission:
Free. Memberships available.
Hours: Daily dawn to dusk.
Double Oak Farm is closed during deer firearms season for safety.
Limited access for wheelchairs - must be arranged prior to visit.

This unique facility, named after America’s first colonial astronomer and childhood friend of Sir Isaac Newton, allows visitors of all ages to explore the cosmos. Programs last 30-45 minutes. Seating is limited to 70 and first-come, first-served.
Directions: Route 4 south. Turn left onto Dares Beach Road. Turn left at Calvert High School.
Admission: Free.
Hours: 1st and 3rd Friday of each month during the Calvert County school year at 6:45 and 8 pm. Doors open 15 minutes prior.

This 100-acre ecological sanctuary includes the northernmost naturally occurring stand of bald cypress trees in America. A nature trail features an elevated boardwalk. The Nature Center houses live animals and exhibits. Classes, demonstrations, field trips and special programs are offered throughout the year. Reservations required for groups of 10 or more.
Directions:
Route 4 south. Turn right onto Sixes Road (MD 506). Turn left onto Grays Road. The sanctuary is approximately .25 mile on your right.
Admission: Free.
Hours: April - September: Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 5 pm; Sunday 1 - 5 pm.
October - March: Tuesday - Saturday 10 am - 4:30 pm; Sunday 1 - 4:30 pm.
Closed New Year’s Day, Thanksgiving and Christmas.

Founded by zoologist Reginald Truitt in 1925 on land donated by the people of Solomons, this is the oldest state-supported marine laboratory on the East Coast. A part of the University of Maryland Center for Environmental Science, CBL allows visitors to experience the scientific atmosphere of the research facility, learn about the ecology and natural resources of the Chesapeake Bay and the important contributions made by CBL scientists to our environmental heritage.
Directions:
Route 4 south. Take the right lane exit just before the Thomas Johnson Bridge. Turn left at the stop sign. Turn right at MD 2. At the end of Charles Street (MD 2), turn left onto Farran Avenue. The Visitor Center is on the left.
Admission: Free.
Hours:
April 15 - December 7: Tuesday - Sunday 10 am - 4 pm.
Laboratory tours are given on Wednesday and Friday at 2 pm.

This 260-acre park on the Patuxent River and Cocktown Creek offers a variety of outdoor activities. A site for environmental education, the park features pastures, woodland and wetlands. Amenities include picnic shelters with tables and grills, wetlands boardwalk, fishing pier, launch area for canoes and kayaks, swimming pool, shoreline, horse ring and Patuxent Hall (for indoor meetings and receptions.) Youth camping, horse ring, picnic shelters and hall require reservations. Wheelchair accessible.
Directions:
Route 4 south to Huntingtown. Turn right into business district. Turn right onto Kings Landing Road. Follow road 3.5 miles to park.
