Web Site for Calvert County Department of Economic Development is a Popular Destination

Department Notes 35 Percent Increase in 2005 Web Hits

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- January 18, 2006 - The Calvert County Department of Economic Development experienced a record surge in Web site hits in 2005. The total number of hits for the year was 219,681 – up 35.4 percent over 2004 which tallied 162,204 hits. The most popular months for Web site traffic were June, July and August, also popular months for County tourism and outdoor activities. Some of the more frequently visited pages included the online classifieds, business database, press releases, tourism and general information on basic business services offered by the County.

Linda Vassallo, director of the Calvert County Department of Economic Development, is pleased with the trend. “This proves that our efforts to disseminate information efficiently using electronic means are working well. By directing people to our Web site, we can inexpensively provide information to the public that is timely, relevant and convenient.” Vassallo said the Internet is just another tool that helps her Department be of service to the business community.
