November is Nifty in Calvert County

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- October 18, 2005 - As the leaves continue to fall and the nip in the air becomes frostier with the passing days, it’s time to think about holiday shopping. What better place than at local crafts fairs and festivals right in your own back yard?

You will find special gifts for special people at any of the following shows:

November 5, A Taste of Waters II – Food tasting party, silent auction, entertainment and crafts. Waters Memorial United Methodist Church, St. Leonard, 5-9pm, 410-586-1716.

November 5, Calvert Elks Lodge 2620 Craft Show – Handcrafts and door prizes. 1015 Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick, 9am-2pm, 410-535-5110.

November 9, Jewelry Sale – Featuring Gold Coast jewelry. Calvert Memorial Hospital, Medical Office Building, Prince Frederick, 7:30am-4pm, 410-535-8373.

November 18, Annual Christmas Bazaar – Handmade crafts and assorted festive items. Calvert Memorial Hospital, Medical Office Building, Prince Frederick, 9am, 410-535-8373.

November 19, St. Paul’s Episcopal Church Annual Christmas Bazaar – Gifts, toys, bake table and secret shop. St. Paul’s Church, Church Street, Prince Frederick, 10am-5pm; crab cake and ham dinner, noon-5pm. 410-535-2897.

The Festival of Trees – “Love Can Build a House” – marks the true beginning of the holiday season in Calvert County. The Festival features over 50 beautifully decorated Christmas trees, a luminous Hospice Memorial Tree and a vibrant poinsettia tree. Festivalgoers can do their holiday gift buying at one of the Festival Shoppes, offering fine merchandise, art and unique crafts. The Festival includes an array of activities and holiday entertainment for the entire family throughout this holiday weekend. Huntingtown High School. Huntingtown. On Friday November 25, The Festival Dinner and Auction will be held from 7-10pm. Reservations are required. Call Jeanne Coonan at 410-535-0273. The Festival offers a special treat for children, ages 3-8, on Saturday, November 26 with either Breakfast with Santa (9am) or Lunch with Santa (11:30am). There is a cost of $5.00 and reservations are required. 410-535-0273.

Finally, on November 27, join the Mayor and Town Council of Chesapeake Beach at the Chesapeake Beach Town Hall at 6pm for the official lighting ceremony for the holiday season.
