Calvert Caterer Serves Up Food With Flair

From Weddings to BBQs, Expressions Catering Has the Experience to Make Any Event Special

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- October 7, 2005 - It was just supposed to be a simple fundraiser dinner hosted by the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department. But when Sandy Dugan, Director of Hall Rentals, chose Debbie Hamann and Expressions Catering to provide the food, she was in for a surprise. “Debbie came with flowers and table cloths and some of the best food I’ve ever tasted,” she said. “Everyone was amazed and impressed by the meal and, best of all, Debbie was just so easy to work with. She really does her best to accommodate any request you make and the food is simply outstanding,” she said.

Expressions Catering, formerly of Bowie, Md., is celebrating its first anniversary operating in Calvert County. With a new, state-of-the-art commercial kitchen in Owings and the distinction of being the exclusive caterer at the Huntingtown Volunteer Fire Department’s new banquet hall, the company is on its way to meeting the catering and hospitality needs of Calvert County’s brides, businesses, golf tournaments, holiday parties and family reunions.

Partners Debbie Hamann, Jimmy Marcos and Thomas Marcos have long, deep roots in the restaurant and catering fields. Hamann’s catering background includes work at LaFontaine Bleu, Martin’s Crosswinds, Quality Hotel Courthouse in Arlington and General Manager of Rip’s Park Place in Bowie. The Marcos brothers have years of restaurant experience as the owners of T.J. Elliotts in Bowie and the original Ledo restaurant in Adelphi, Md.

Together, the three partners bring over 75 years of food service skills and experience and are proud of the staff they have assembled. Their professional wait staff has varying restaurant, country club and banquet backgrounds and is skilled at serving everything from white linen formal dinners and banquets to backyard barbeques.

Hamann is proud of the unique blend of workers they have created and she personally trains the staff to provide the top-notch service she would expect as a customer. “I have high standards and my entire staff shares them with me,” she said. “Presentation is every bit as important as taste and it shows in our catering style – from black satin and silver lamé to country gingham – our food and decorations help set the mood for any affair.”

When asked what her favorite events are, Hamann answers, “Weddings have always been my specialty because we design each wedding specifically with the couple in mind. Food is an integral part of any celebration and it’s also so much fun to be a part of such a special event as a wedding; I just love helping people enjoy themselves.”
