Calvert County, Maryland Seeks 2006 Calendar Events

New Online Entry System has October 15 Deadline for Printed Brochure

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- September 27, 2005 - This year, the Calvert County, Maryland Department of Economic Development will use a new online system to gather and compile information for the 2006 Calvert County Calendar of Events.

Community groups, civic organizations, churches, visitor sites, cultural and arts societies, or other associations producing or hosting an event in Calvert County, Maryland are encouraged to submit their 2006 events to be considered for inclusion on the web and in a printed Community Calendar, free of charge. In order to receive consideration for this brochure, entries must be submitted using the online system between October 1 and October 15.

While no entries for the printed brochure can be accepted after October 15, organizations may continue to submit events for inclusion in the Department of Economic Development’s web-based Calendar of Events which will be continually updated throughout the year. Every effort will be made to include complete descriptions, however, due to space limitations and in order to maintain consistency for ease of online navigation, the Department of Economic Development reserves the right to edit and/or omit events.

Jeanine Potas, Tourism Program Assistant for the Department of Economic Development, is excited about the new method of compiling calendar information and is confident the online system will allow the Department to provide better customer service and more timely and accurate information to the public. “The online system will allow organizations to update their own online listings throughout the year, keeping the events up-to-date with the latest information and providing a way to get the word out as events pop up throughout the year,” she said. “In addition, our web site receives more than a quarter million hits each month so a listing with us provides organizations with another excellent way to advertise their special events - at no charge.”
