Celebrate Farmers Market Week at the Calvert Country Market August 7-13
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- July 29, 2005 -- August is peak growing season on Southern Maryland’s farms and the produce is ripe and ready for purchase at the Calvert Country Market (CCM). The Calvert County, Maryland Department of Economic Development is pleased to participate in a nationwide celebration of farm-fresh, affordable and healthy products during the 2005 National Farmers Market Week, August 7 – 13, 2005, as proclaimed by the Secretary of Agriculture for the United States, Mike Johanns. On May 10, 2005, Johanns issued a Proclamation citing the rising national popularity of farmers markets as “consumers discover the joys of shopping for unique ingredients sold direct from the farm, and the pleasure of buying familiar products in their freshest possible state.”
Calvert County boasts the only indoor market in Southern Maryland with a unique mix of products and gift items. CCM provides farm-fresh, affordable and healthy products for the citizens of Southern Maryland including locally grown fresh produce, meats and seafood, berries, flowers, herbs and baked goods. In addition, a wide variety of craftspeople provide fiber and yarn, wood working products, ceramics, birdhouses, candies, glassworks, antiques, gift baskets and jewelry.
The Calvert Country Market is located in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center at the corner of Routes 2/4 and Duke Street in Prince Frederick, Md., and is open seven days a week.
