Calvert County, Maryland Seeks "Beautiful" People for 19th Annual "Maryland's Most Beautiful People" Volunteer Awards

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 30, 2005 --The Calvert County, Maryland Department of Economic Development, in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and the Governor’s Office, announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 19th annual “Maryland’s Most Beautiful People” Volunteer Awards. This project honors individuals whose volunteer service improves the quality of life for Maryland citizens and visitors. Deadline for receipt of nomination forms is August 12, 2005.

We are acknowledging the unsung heroes who help make Calvert County better through volunteerism and are looking for that special “Beautiful” person to represent our County at the statewide ceremony. The volunteer might be a tour guide at a museum or historic landmark; the person who organizes a local fair, festival or parade; or the person committed to making a difference by giving generously of their time to hospices, hospitals, and programs dedicated to assisting the homeless, seniors, youth and other social service initiatives. Please help us find these special volunteers. All nominees must be Calvert County residents.

Nomination forms are available at all County libraries, the County Courthouse, or by calling the Department of Economic Development at 410-535-4583 or 301-855-1880.

Completed nomination forms should be returned to “Maryland You Are Beautiful,” c/o Sandy Bentley, Department of Economic Development, Courthouse, Prince Frederick, Maryland 20678.

All Calvert County nominees will be honored at a local awards ceremony with the Board of County Commissioners. One “special” nominee will be chosen to represent Calvert County at the Governor’s Reception and Awards Ceremony in Annapolis in November.
