Local Bookkeeping Company Offers Unique Services for Seniors
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 29, 2005 -- Sandy Goss is a professional bookkeeper based in Huntingtown, Md. with over 10 years of financial services experience. Her client list includes everyone from small business owners to busy individuals who don’t have the time or inclination to manage and track tedious financial tasks such as bill paying, bank reconciliation or document filing.
But Goss’ experience with her grandfather has made her realize that a real need exists in providing services to the senior community. “My grandfather has Alzheimer’s disease,” said Goss. “Since his diagnosis, I have seen the difficulties he has had in managing his day-to-day affairs. It made me realize that there are many elderly people in similar situations who really need and would enjoy having someone else take care of their financial matters.”
With the baby boomer generation rapidly reaching retirement age, Goss realized the potential in this untapped market. “Besides the fact that I just really enjoy working with the elderly,” said Goss, “I felt this was a good business opportunity for my bookkeeping services.”
“I think there are many seniors out there who need help managing their everyday finances,” said Goss. “They can easily and quickly become overwhelmed with the volume of paperwork and bills that come in every month, especially when you factor in the reconciliation work that is required for medical expenses, co-pays and insurance statements.”
Goss can help seniors, or their caretakers, with a multitude of financial services including bill paying, check writing, tax document filings and recordkeeping, cash flow management and bank statement reconciliation. Goss said, “I’ve been a very useful resource for families who are suddenly faced with taking care of an elderly loved one and all the financial paperwork that is involved. Having a skilled, caring and impartial third-party handling the finances can remove a heavy burden – and much of the family squabbling that results – from challenging family circumstances.”
Goss is a certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor, a member of the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce and a member of the American Institute of Professional Bookkeepers. She serves the entire Southern Maryland area, including Anne Arundel and Prince George’s counties, Washington, D.C. and the Annapolis area.
