Calvert Country Market Hosting Charity Drives this Holiday Season

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- November 23, 2004 -- The Calvert County, Maryland Department of Economic Development is pleased to announce that the Calvert Country Market (CCM) is sponsoring two charity drives this holiday season – an “Angel Tree” and canned food drive.

The Angel Tree is organized by SMILE, a non-profit organization comprised of nine Southern Maryland churches. The CCM Angel Tree contains the names and gift wishes of 24 Calvert County children. From Barbie and Barney to Care Bears and Sponge Bob, you can make a child’s holiday a little brighter this year by donating a new, unwrapped toy. Each angel contains the name, gender and age of a needy child, information about the child’s family and their gift wish. All unwrapped gifts must be purchased and returned to CCM no later than Wednesday, December 15, to allow for delivery to the children in time for Christmas.

You can also donate canned soups, fruits and vegetables at CCM by Friday, December 17. All canned goods will be donated to the Calvert County food pantry in time for holiday meals.

CCM offers a wide selection of unique gifts and sweet treats to make your holiday celebrations memorable. Located in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center, at the corner of Routes 231 and 4, CCM offers locally grown fresh produce, berries, flowers, herbs, baked goods, certified organic products, ceramics and local crafts. Additionally, CCM features a bakery, seafood, butcher, green grocer, delicatessen, antiques shop, fine jewelry, candies, essential oils and aromatherapy items and a gourd shop.
