Jump Start the Holidays at the Calvert Country Market

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- November 13, 2004 -- The Calvert County, Maryland Department of Economic Development invites residents to get a jump on holiday festivities at the Calvert Country Market’s (CCM) Fall Festival on Saturday, November 20, 2004, from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Enjoy a wide variety of hands-on activities and demonstrations throughout the day:

  • 9:00 – 10:00 Wood Turning Demonstration
    by Mike O’Kelley of Exotic Wood Products.

  • 9:30 – 10:30 Candy Creations
    Make edible treats at the Sweet Dreams Candy Store

  • 10:00 – 11:00 Fun with Polymer Clay
    Bright, colorful and fun to play with – hand-made polymer clay figurines made with DayDreamerDebbie are great holiday gifts.

  • 10:00 – 1:00 All About Squash!
    Learn the secrets for preparing, cooking and serving this highly nutritious vegetable, presented by the Calvert County Agricultural Extension Office.

  • 11:00 – 2:00 Ceramic Seahorses
    Children can purchase, paint and decorate their own ceramic seahorses at Diane’s Ceramics.

  • 11:30 – 12:30 Spinning and Yarn
    Improve your knitting skills at Ch’Naca Farm & Fiberworks and learn about the latest colors, textures and fibers.

  • 1:00 – 1:30 Pumpkin Soup
    Get the recipe for turning gourds into gourmet meals.

There will be door prizes and children can get their picture taken standing behind our decorative picture board. In addition, wreath making demonstrations will take place throughout the day; learn how to decorate your doorways and table settings with these hand-made works of art.

CCM offers a wide selection of unique gifts and sweet treats to make your holiday celebrations memorable. Located in the Prince Frederick Shopping Center, at the corner of Routes 231 and 4, CCM offers locally grown fresh produce, berries, flowers, herbs, baked goods, certified organic products and local crafts. Additionally, CCM features a bakery, seafood, butcher, green grocer, delicatessen, antiques shop, fine jewelry, candies, essential oils and aromatherapy items and a gourd shop.
