Economic Development Authority Sells Last Lot in Calvert County Industrial Park
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- July 08, 2003 -- The Economic Development Authority (EDA) announced today the sale of the last remaining original parcel at the Calvert County Industrial Park (CCIP); Lot 46 has been sold to Marrick Properties, Inc located in Dunkirk, MD. The lot will be used for Marrick’s construction storage and equipment service facility needs. Marrick Properties has been in business since 1984.
CCIP located on MD 231 five miles west of Prince Frederick, was developed in 1975 to help provide an employment base and assist in the expansion of the commercial tax base for Calvert County. The CCIP slowly developed between 1975 and 1995. In 1996 an aggressive marketing campaign, "Free Land Program" helped spear development and attract businesses and employment opportunities to the County.
Today, the CCIP employs over 250 people at more than 39 businesses. "We are pleased with the success of the Calvert County Industrial Park", said David Hale, president, Calvert County Board of County Commissioners. "The economic growth of the County will continue to play an important role in years to come for our residents and businesses in Southern Maryland."
In an effort to further promote the businesses at the CCIP, the Calvert County Department of Economic Development will undergo a teaming marketing effort to help educate potential employees, inform area residents of the job opportunities available in Calvert County, and to market available services to companies that support the Patuxent River Naval Air Station who frequently look to team with local manufacturing businesses.
There are a limited number of lots in private ownership that are available for development at CCIP. Please contact the Calvert County Department of Economic Development for more information, 410-535-4583 or 301-855-1880. E-mail cced@co.cal.md.us
