Business Marketing Seminar A Success

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- June 03, 2003 -- The Department of Economic Development (DED) announced that the May 22, 2003 informational seminar on business marketing was a great success. "We are pleased with the turnout of over 40 Calvert County businesses participating in the morning’s activities," said Linda Vassallo, Director of the Calvert County Department of Economic Development. "It’s our goal to provide continued outreach to the business community through the many services we offer and through seminars just like this one."

The seminar was open to all Calvert County businesses and focused on the basics of marketing including public relations, advertising, Web sites and the services available to businesses in the county through the Department of Economic Development and the Southern Maryland Small Business Development Center. Attendees learned how to begin a marketing plan, utilize public relations for their businesses, and create a Web site specific to their business and clientele. In addition, examples were given on how other small businesses in the county use advertising and Web sites to increase their customer base and gain public awareness.
