Small Business Development Center is a Success in Calvert County
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- March 04, 2003 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) are pleased to report that the free on-site business counseling at the Economic Development offices in Prince Frederick has proven to be a great success. Since February of 2000 the SBDC has offered services every Thursday in Calvert County. The number of entrepreneurs/small businesses taking advantage of this service continues to grow, with 51 clients being served in Calvert County in 2000, 67 in 2001, and 69 in 2002.
This service is made available through the SBDC headquartered at the College of Southern Maryland. The SBDC offers professional business counseling and assistance to pre-business entrepreneurs and small businesses. Consultants work with clients to produce practical solutions to business problems and offer one-on-one counseling in basic operational and strategic planning as well as many other business-related issues such as business plan development, e-commerce, financing, marketing and advertising, and accounting and bookkeeping.
Additionally, the SDBC sponsors workshops, provides a business resource library, and offers access to worldwide databases. SBDC services are provided every Thursday at the Department of Economic Development's offices in the Courthouse Annex in Prince Frederick.
