Calvert Village Shopping Center Undergoes Renovations
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- March 03, 2003 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development announced that renovations at the Calvert Village Shopping Center located on West Dares Beach Road in Prince Frederick will begin in March 2003. The shopping center is home to over twenty-five businesses.
Safeway closed their doors on Saturday, February 22, 2003 to undergo construction of a brand new store. During this time Safeway’s pharmacy will continue to be open and will be located in a 1,600 square foot space within the shopping center. Safeway has expressed that renovations will go smoothly and plans to re-open its doors on August 27, 2003 with a new unveiled 58,000 square foot space. Inside the new store there will be a Starbucks, SunTrust Bank and dry cleaners.
In addition, the Calvert Village Shopping Center will undergo an exciting renovation that will include a new façade, lighting, parking lot, uniform signage, a new pylon sign, and other upgrades including a larger entrance from West Dares Beach Road and professional landscaping. The transformation will begin April, during this time all businesses in the shopping center will be open and operating "business as usual" with the exception of the Safeway store.
