Calvert County Business Man Receives 2002 Maryland Leadership in Law Award

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- December 11, 2002 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development is pleased to announce that a member of the Economic Development Commission (EDC), Mr. Christopher J. Reynolds of Reynolds and Manning P.A., has received the Maryland Leadership in Law award for 2002 from the Daily Record.

The Maryland Leadership in Law award recognizes successful members of the legal community throughout Maryland who have devoted time and energy to bettering the profession, who have committed themselves to improving the community in which they live and work, and who have played the important role of mentoring future professionals and community leaders. Twenty-four winners were named from five regions – Central Maryland, Suburban Maryland, Southern Maryland, Western Maryland and the Eastern Shore.

Mr. Reynolds has made an immense impact in Calvert County since he moved here in 1992 from Washington D.C. He has been a member of the EDC since 1994 serving as chairman from 1997-2000 and has served as Chair of the Calvert Chamber of Commerce. "Chris served as a very active Chairman of the EDC for several years. He spent many tireless hours reviewing text amendments and proposed changes to the County’s zoning ordinances in an effort to lessen any negative impact those changes might have on local businesses. He continues to be an asset not only to the EDC but also to the entire business community," stated Linda Vassallo, Director of the Calvert County Department of Economic Development. In addition, Mr. Reynolds is involved with a variety of organizations including SMILE, an organization that collects and distributes food, clothing and money to needy people in southern Calvert County. He is a director of Christmas in April and was a board member of the American Heart Association’s county chapter.
