Calvert County Challange - Cash Catch Contest Announced
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 02, 2002 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development and participating Charterboat Captains throughout Calvert County will sponsor the Calvert County Challenge – Cash Catch Contest again this year. The Grand Prize winner will receive $2,000 by catching the largest (by weight) striped bass (rockfish) during the season. The fish must be caught by hook & line on the charterboat of a participating Captain. The charterboat must depart and return to a Calvert County dock on the same day. The contest dates are the 2002 Maryland designated Striped Bass season. Your catch must be certified at an official State of Maryland weigh station on the day of the catch. There is no entry fee to participate.
Guy A. Williams Sr. was the winner in 2001, catching a 58-pound rockfish on November 10th near Taylor’s Island aboard Semper Fidelis III, the charter boat of Captain Ed O’ Brien.
