Calvert County Economic Development Commission Conducts Annual Strategic Planning Meeting
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 16, 2001 --The Calvert County Economic Development Commission (EDC) announced today that they will conduct their annual Strategic Planning meeting on Wednesday, May 9, 2001 from 9:00 – 10:30 AM at the Calvert Pines Senior Center in Prince Frederick. Registration will begin at 8:30 AM. The meeting is open to the public. Pre-registration is required.
The Economic Development Five-Year Strategic Plan, formally adopted by the EDC at its February 1997 meeting, is the blueprint to achieve a balanced and sustainable community. The plan represents the combined effort of the EDC, the Tourism Advisory Committee (TAC), the Economic Development Authority (EDA), County businesses, citizens and public officials who defined approaches to improve the County’s economic climate.
Three specific five-year economic development goals are outlined by the plan. They include: 1) improve the character of the County, 2) increase the economic base $325 million, and 3) attract 2,700 new in-County jobs for residents. As presented to the Board of County Commissioners, specific objectives and action items are identified for each goal in the plan. To measure success, the plan is reviewed and revised on a calendar basis by the EDC and presented to the public.
Pre-registration is required. Interested parties should contact the Calvert County Department of Economic Development, 410-535-4583 or 301-855-1880, no later than May 1, 2001. E-mail cced@co.cal.md.us
