Schieke Attends National Tour Association Annual Convention in Salt Lake City
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- November 22, 2000-- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development announced today that Herman E. Schieke, Jr., Tourism Specialist of the Calvert County Department of Economic Development attended the National Tour Association’s 2000 Annual Convention in Salt Lake City, November 10-15.
Recognized as one of the premier travel events held annually in North America, the six-day convention attracts more than 3,000 travel professionals, including tour companies, tour suppliers (such as hotels and attractions), and destination marketing organizations, such as state and local tourism offices.
The Tour & Travel Exchange, a forum for buying and selling travel services, was one of the highlights of the Convention. The Tour & Travel Exchange gives tour suppliers and DMOs, like Calvert County, the opportunity to promote their business or destination to tour companies. The convention also featured more than 30 professional development and continuing education seminars, and included sightseeing tours around the Salt Lake City area.
The Calvert County Department of Economic Development is a member of NTA, an organization of nearly 4,000 tourism professionals focused on the development, promotion and increased use of tour operator-packaged travel.
