Free On-line Employment Listings Becomes Available for Calvert-Based Businesses

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- August 8, 2000 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development (DED) announced today the availability of free employment listings for all Calvert-based businesses on their web site. Click here to access it. The Calvert County Department of Economic Development is the only economic development office in the State to provide this type of free service to its business community.

Earlier this year, several Calvert companies at the Calvert County Industrial Park expressed concerns regarding the labor availability within the County and region. As a result, the DED determined that the best resource available for those and other Calvert companies would be the development of a free, web-based tool where companies could advertise job openings at no cost.

This service is available only to companies with physical locations in Calvert County, Maryland. However, Calvert residents or those individuals looking for employment within Calvert County are able to access the database regardless of location.

Businesses are required to register. Once registered, the company will be able to add, edit, renew or remove employment listings. Listings are valid for 30 days, but can be renewed each month. To ensure the employment database is current, the company will receive an e-mail notifying them that the listing will expire and it is time to renew.

"The Board of County Commissioners are thrilled that this service will become available to our businesses," said Linda Kelley, President. "With a recent unemployment rate of 2.4 percent, many companies are having difficulty finding employees. We think we’ve created a tool that can help both our businesses and our residents."

In addition to the employment listings, Calvert businesses are also able to advertise their business on the DED web site free of charge. For more information, please contact the Calvert County Department of Economic Development, 410.535.4583 or 301.855.1880, via email cced@co.cal.md.us.
