PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 27, 2000 -- The "Maryland You are Beautiful" Program, in conjunction with the Maryland Department of Business and Economic Development and the Governor’s Office announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 14th annual "Maryland’s Most Beautiful People" Volunteer Awards. Governor Parris N. Glendening stated, "Unique to Maryland and the nation, the Maryland You Are Beautiful Program generates enormous State pride by recognizing thousands of unsung heroes who make Maryland a better place to live, work, and visit."
The Calvert County Board of Commissioners is looking for that special "Beautiful" person to represent Calvert County. Once again, we are acknowledging the unsung heroes who help make Calvert County better through volunteerism. The volunteer might be a tour guide at a museum or historic landmark; the person who organizes a local fair, festival or parade; or the person committed to making a difference by giving generously of their time to hospices, hospitals, homeless, seniors, youth and other social service agencies. Please help us find these special beautiful volunteers. Nomination forms may be picked up at any County Library, the County Courthouse, or by calling the Calvert County Department of Economic Development at (410) 535-4583 or (301) 855-1880. Completed nomination forms should be returned to "Maryland You Are Beautiful", c/o Sandy Bentley, Department of Economic Development, Courthouse, Prince Frederick, Maryland 20678.
