"Focus on Calvert" Photo Contest
Winners Announced

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- March 28, 2000 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development and the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce, under the guidance of the Calvert County Tourism Advisory Committee, are excited to announce that a panel of judges has selected the winners of their "Focus on Calvert" Photo Contest. The contest was open to all photography enthusiasts and non-professionals, both county and non-county residents. Photographs were submitted in the following categories: (1) Calvert Events; (2) Bayscapes and Waterways; or (3) Landscapes and Landmarks.

The GRAND PRIZE WINNER is Norine Rowe of Lusby for her photograph, "Boathouse on the Chesapeake".

The winners for the EVENTS CATEGORY are:

• 1st Place – Kristine Falco, for her photo, "Calvert High Pipers at Solomons Christmas Walk"; and
• 2nd Place – Jennifer Draxton, for her photo, "Artsfest at Annmarie Garden".

Both 1st Place and 2nd Place prizes in the BAYSCAPES & WATERWAYS CATEGORY go to Norine Rowe for her entries of "Full Moon Over the Patuxent" and "Boaters on the Patuxent at Solomons".

The winners in the LANDSCAPES & LANDMARKS CATEGORY are:

• 1st Place – Harry D. Hughes, for his entry, "Calvert Marine Museum, Solomons"; and,
• 2nd Place - Norine Rowe, for her photo "Tobacco Barn in Autumn".

All photographs submitted for the contest will be on display at The Gallery at Annmarie Garden on St. John, Solomons from April 15 through April 25, 2000. The winning photographs will also be on display at the Calvert Marine Museum and will be temporarily featured on the Economic Development website. Prize packages ranging in value from $200.00 to $350.00 will be awarded to the 1st Place and 2nd Place Winners in each of the three categories. A prize package valued at approximately $900.00 will be awarded to the Grand Prize Winner. Prizes will be awarded to all winners at a Reception on Sunday, April 16 from 2:00-4:00 pm at The Gallery at Annmarie Garden.
