Four Existing Calvert County Companies Expand Operations at the Calvert County Industrial Park
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- January 14, 2000 -- The Calvert County Economic Development Authority (EDA) announced today that four Calvert County businesses would expand their Southern Maryland operations in the Calvert County Industrial Park (CCIP). All of the companies are based at the Park.
Burdette Woodworking relocated their operations to the Park from Camp Springs, Md. in 1997 and will expand on lot 20, which is adjacent to their existing facility. The company produces custom wood and wood laminates pieces such as reception desks, counters and workstations used in the food service industry, colleges, universities, government facilities and other private sector businesses. The company currently employs 41 individuals.
R&R Fabricators, located on Ketch Road, will expand on their existing lot 25, and will add an additional fabrication building of 12,000 sq ft, and a 4,000 sq ft spray painting canopy. R&R constructs custom steel beams as well as other steel products, and markets their products throughout the mid Atlantic area. R&R has been located at the CCIP since 1993 and employs 40 individuals.
Recorded Books, Inc., located on lot 10 on Bugeye Square, is building a 16,000 sq. ft. addition to their manufacturing facility. Recorded Books is the worlds largest provider of unabridged audio books. In addition to their manufacturing facilities in Calvert County, the company has recording studios in New York City. Recorded Books has been located in the CCIP since 1987 and has 20 employees.
The Gott Company, has moved their fuel storage and service division to the CCIP from the Prince Frederick Town Center. The company is planning an addition to the existing building to house additional administrative functions.
The Calvert County Industrial Park consists of 226 acres divided into 42 lots. The park is the largest full-scale industrial park in the County and is designated as a Maryland Enterprise Zone. The Calvert County Industrial Park is the only Enterprise Zone in Southern Maryland. The average lot size is 2.5 acres. The Park is located five miles west of Prince Frederick and 32 miles from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The EDA is responsible for promoting quality economic development County-wide and is the sole owner and manager of the Calvert County Industrial Park.
