Beltway Iron Co., Inc. Expands Operations to Calvert County Industrial Park
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- May 24, 1999-- The Calvert County Economic Development Authority (EDA) announced today that Beltway Iron Co., Inc. will expand their Southern Maryland operations on lot 27 at the Calvert County Industrial Park.
Beltway Iron Company is a fabrication and erection company specializing in products such as steel beams; angle irons; columns; ornamental railings; stairs and platforms; and jobs site erection. The company has been in operation for 15 years. Beltway Iron will employ 30 individuals. The company is expected to relocate to Calvert County in the fall of 1999 and construct a 7,000 square foot facility. The company serves the entire Metropolitan Washington, DC and Baltimore regions.
"We are moving to the Calvert County Industrial Park because they are centrally located to our employee base in Southern Maryland," said Robert Herr, President, Beltway Iron. "The Park is a good central location for our customers now and I anticipate that this location will provide new opportunities for us in the future."
The Calvert County Industrial Park consists of 226 acres divided into 42 lots. The park is the largest full-scale industrial park in the County, is designated as one of 13 Maryland Enterprise Zones in the State, and is the only Enterprise Zone in Southern Maryland. The average lot size is 2.5 acres. The Park is located five miles west of Prince Frederick and 32 miles from the Patuxent River Naval Air Station. The Free Land Incentive Program is available for qualifying firms attempting to relocate to Calvert County. Program was developed by the EDA to attract technology firms to Calvert County, to stimulate economic activity, increase employment opportunities for Calvert’s citizens, and introduce the County’s target industries to an alternative business location in the Greater Washington Region. To qualify for the Free Land Incentive Program, companies must demonstrate that they fall within the County’s target market industries, meet the predetermined set of criteria and match one of the Standard Industrial Classifications (SIC) identified as a target market industry by Calvert County.
