"Maryland's Most Beautiful People" Make Maryland a Better Place to Live and Visit!

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- April 30, 1999 -- The "Maryland You are Beautiful" Program, in conjunction with the Department of Business and Economic Development and the Governor’s Office announced that nominations are now being accepted for the 13th annual "Maryland’s Most Beautiful People" Volunteer Awards. Governor Parris N. Glendening stated, "This is your opportunity to recognize selfless individuals who have touched many and ultimately improved the quality of life for all Maryland visitors and citizens"!

The Calvert County Board of Commissioners is looking for that special "Beautiful" person to represent Calvert County. Once again, we are acknowledging the unsung heroes who help make Calvert County better through volunteerism. The volunteer might be a tour guide at a museum or historic landmark; the person who organizes a local fair, festival or parade; or the person committed to making a difference by giving generously of their time to hospices, hospitals, homeless, seniors, youth and other social service agencies. Please help us find these special beautiful volunteers. Nomination forms may be picked up at any County Library, the County Courthouse or by calling the Calvert County Department of Economic Development at (410) 535-4583 or (301) 855-1880. Completed forms should be returned to "Maryland You Are Beautiful", c/o Sandy Bentley, Department of Economic Development, Courthouse, Prince Frederick, Maryland 20678. Deadline for receipt of nomination forms is August 13, 1999.

All nominees will be honored at a local awards ceremony. One nominee from each county and Baltimore City will be chosen to represent the many nominees from their area at a statewide awards ceremony in Annapolis hosted by Governor Parris N. Glendening on Wednesday, November 3, 1999.
