Procurement Seminar Offered to Calvert County Businesses

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- January 4, 1999 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development, in cooperation with the Calvert County Chamber of Commerce, announced today that they will hold a Procurement Seminar at the Calvert Pines Auditorium, 450 W. Dares Beach Road, Prince Frederick, on January 21, 1999 from 9:00 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. This program is designed to help small businesses learn how to sell their products and services to some of the larger purchasers in the County. Representatives from Baltimore Gas & Electric, Calvert Memorial Hospital, Calvert County Government and the Calvert County Board of Education will be among the speakers. If you have ever wanted to do business with these organizations, you should consider attending this seminar.

Following the final presentation, seminar attendees will have the opportunity to network with panel members and talk one-on-one with the representatives who administer the purchasing programs.

"We are particularly interested in setting up a group that will introduce County businesses to the procurement procedures of varied organizations," said Jim Shepherd, Calvert County’s Business Development Specialist. "So often small businesses don’t know where to go for assistance or how to get on the bidding lists of different businesses or government agencies. We hope that County businesses take advantage of this opportunity."

There is no fee for the seminar, but those interested are asked to register by Friday, January 14, 1999. Refreshments will be provided. For more information contact Jim Shepherd at the Calvert County Department of Economic Development, 410-535-4583 or 800-331-9771, e-mail cced@co.cal.md.us.
