Scheibel Construction Relocates to Calvert County

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- September 1, 1998 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development announced today that Scheibel Construction of Camp Springs, Md. would relocate its corporate headquarters to Calvert County in September. Their new headquarters are located at the MD Rte. 2/4 intersection in Huntingtown.

Scheibel Construction has been in business for over 50 years and currently employs more than 65 individuals. During 1997, the company constructed projects totaling $25 million in volume and its bonding capacity was expanded to the $50 million dollar range.

The new two-story facility totals approximately 10,800 square feet with the potential for future expansion. Located behind the new facility is a 14,000 square foot "American" pre-engineered metal building that will serve as warehouse and commercial retail space. Scheibel has been a dealer for the American Metal Building Company for over 10 years. "The new corporate office is located on a major thoroughfare with direct access to Washington, Baltimore, Annapolis and Southern Maryland corridors," said John Bailey, president, Scheibel Construction. "The new office building will allow us the use of a premiere facility with the convenience of being able to conduct business close to our market and will also provide the company with new found resources -- expanded office space, accessibility, and a new warehouse facility," Bailey said.

"Scheibel is very large, established contractor in the Greater Washington Region, said Jeff Stone, director of economic development. "This company could have moved their operations to another location in the metropolitan area, and did not. We are delighted they found Calvert County the most viable business location to serve their market."

The building's architecture follows simplistic colonial styling and proportion that is unique to the mid-Atlantic region. The architecture, land planning and location of the building reveal this as Scheibel's unique design/build commitment to quality development and harmony with the natural environment.
