6th Annual Screwpile '98 Sailing Regatta July 19-21, 1998

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- July 15, 1998 -- The Southern Maryland Sailing Association (SMSA) is sponsoring the 6th Annual Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge in Solomons, Maryland July 19-21, 1998. Co-sponsors include:

Currently, 110 boats are registered for the race with an expected total registration of approximately 150. Participants can register via the Internet at www.smsa.com or from 12:00 - 5:00 pm Sunday, July 19, 1998 at Zahniser's Yachting Center, Solomons, Maryland.

The 1997 Screwpile Lighthouse Challenge was a great success. 115 boats brought approximately 1,500 crew and 5,000 visitors/participants to Solomons Island during the event last July.

Screwpile '98 is open to racing and cruising monohull yachts that have a valid handicap rating certificate on file with appropriate PHRF or MORC class organizations. (PHRF handicaps must be from PHRF of the Chesapeake Bay and must have a rating of 195 or below).
