Governor Glendening, Calvert County Officials Announce Relocation of Jensen Press to Prince Frederick Company's Move From Manassas Park, VA Brings More Jobs to Maryland

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- June 11, 1998 -- Governor Parris N. Glendening today joined Calvert County officials and representatives of the DM Group in announcing the relocation of Jensen Press, Inc. - a DM Group subsidiary - from Manassas Park, VA to Prince Frederick. Jensen Press is one of six companies that make up the DM Group and the only remaining company of the group currently located out of state.

The relocation of Jensen Press is the result of a state, county and company partnership to consolidate its operations in Calvert County. The county previously provided the DM Group with a preferential lease on a County Economic Development Authority-owned building, originally financed by the State of Maryland. This allowed the DM Group to vacate the facility where Jensen will commence operations. Calvert County also assisted the DM Group with a $100,000 interest-free building improvements loan and fast-track permitting.

"Thanks to the strong partnership that has been established, Jensen Press is joining the rest of the DM Group in creating good, family-supporting jobs in Southern Maryland," Governor Glendening said. "We look forward to continued growth in Maryland from this innovative company in the years to come."

"We are pleased to announce our relocation to Calvert County," said Jensen Press President Kirk Swain. "The county and state have been extremely cooperative. We look forward to a long relationship with them."

"Direct Mail is one of the largest providers of direct mail services in the Greater Washington Region. They are a strong, established business and having them in Calvert County sends a clear message to the business community that Calvert is a viable business location," said Jeff Stone, Calvert County Director of Economic Development. "This move allows them to expand their operations and take advantage of some tremendous Enterprise Zone advantages in the Industrial Park."

The Calvert County Industrial Park is located in one of the State's 32 Enterprise Zones, which offers property tax credits and other incentives to businesses within the designated Zone areas.

Started in 1974, Jensen Press employs 22 full-time and two part-time employees. Jensen will occupy 28,425 square feet of an existing 35,000 square foot building in the Calvert County Industrial Park. The DM Group employs 295 workers and occupies about 135,000 square feet in the Park.
