Calvert County Wins AEDC Promotional Award
PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- June 10, 1998 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development announced today that on Monday June 1, 1998, the Department received a "Superior" award from the American Economic Development Council (AEDC) for the County's interactive CD-ROM. The County's CD-ROM was one of over 1,100 entries submitted for the AEDC's annual Promotional Materials Awards Competition. The announcement of the award was made at the recent AEDC Annual Conference Awards Luncheon in Nashville, TN.
The national awards given are 1) Best of Class 2) Superior 3) Excellent, and 4) Honorable Mention in a variety of categories. This was the fortieth year of this national competition that showcases the best efforts of economic development organizations in attracting and retaining business and industry in their communities through their marketing materials.
The CD ROM is used as a direct marketing tool for the Department of Economic Development and contains information typically used by site location consultants. Replacing traditional printed materials, the CD ROM contains information including workforce availability, taxes, utilities, location and climate, incentives, proposed development projects, the County's location in the Greater Washington Region, quality of life and tourism.
The American Economic Development Council is a high-participation organization for people committed to economic development. The largest and oldest economic development society, AEDC serves close to 3,000 members and has been a home base for the profession since 1926.
