Calvert County Industrial Park Authority Changes Name to Calvert County Economic Development Authority

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- October 08, 1996 -- The Calvert County Economic Development Authority, through the Calvert County Department of Economic Development, announced today the name change of the Calvert County Industrial Park Authority (IPA) to the Calvert County Economic Development Authority (EDA). The change was effective October 1, 1996, as authorized by the 1996 Maryland General Assembly.

"The purpose for the change is to better reflect the future activities of the Authority," according to Harry Zinn, Chairman, Calvert County EDA. "Authorizing legislation enables the EDA to undertake and support economic development activities County-wide; the IPA focused only on issues related to the Calvert County Industrial Park. This change will not lessen our commitment to the Industrial Park, but will increase the opportunity for the EDA to act as a catalyst in development projects for the County."
