Economic Development Assessment & Target Market Analysis Presentation to the Calvert County Board of Commissioners

PRINCE FREDERICK, Md., -- September 18, 1996 -- The Calvert County Department of Economic Development announced today the presentation of the County's Economic Development Assessment and Target Market Analysis to the Calvert County Board of Commissioners on Tuesday, September 24, 1996, 12:00 noon, at the Calvert County Courthouse, Commissioners Hearing Room.

In a competitive bid last spring, the Wadley-Donovan Group of Morristown, NJ, was contracted to perform an Economic Development Assessment and Target Market Analysis of Calvert County. The Wadley-Donovan assessment included a review of conditions that are considered by corporations or site location consultants when seeking sites for new facilities, and also detailed key locational assets and liabilities.

This analysis will be used to develop an action plan that markets the County's assets and to develop strategies for overcoming liabilities that hamper economic development opportunities. The assessment identifies the County's image to potential employers, County assets and liabilities, recommendations to increase linkages to the business community, and gaps in the existing economic structure that could be filled by new business ventures.

The Wadley-Donovan Group will present their findings and recommendations during an open session of the Board of County Commissioners and be available for questions and comment immediately following the presentation.
